I’ll have more information. The first ones who tested this car were the guys from Autocar UK who enjoyed a 530d GT. Now, the guys from Edmunds “played” with a 535i version of 2010 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo.

2011 BMW 5-series

The 2011 BMW 5 Series Sedan steps showrooms this June as the rear wheel drive 535i and 550i . Excluding destination charges, prices start at $49,600 for the 535i and $59,700 for the 550i. A 240-hp 528i and xDrive all wheel drive versions are due later this year. The entire 2010 BMW 5-Series comes in four-door sedan or wagon body styles. Sedan trims include the 528i, 535i, and 550i. A performance-oriented M5 trim is also available. Later in the year, a Grand Touring version similar to the BMW X6 will appear.
The BMW 5-Series is the most athletic driver’s car, providing luxury and comfort to 5 adults and capably built for a solitary drive down a red carpet road. As coming from the royal family, the interiors are best of its class with a appropriate price tag. Its a perfect combo of immense technology designed with class and comfort. Well-equipped, a 5-Series can also cost thousands more than some very competent rivals. But if you buy a car for the sheer joy of driving it, this may be the best suitable car one could find. The 5-Series requires premium fuel and is fuel efficient for a large car built for driving excitement.
The 550i Gran Turismo is a sedan, SUV, and Grand Touring coupe redesigned into one outstanding package. Powered by a 400-hp twin-turbo V-8 mated, loaded with features, such as the all-new fourth-gen iDrive. The New 5 Series highlights prime features like Turbo compressor, 2,979 cc 3.0 liters in-line 6 front engine with 84.0 mm bore, 89.6 mm stroke, 10.2 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder N54/3.0, Premium unleaded fuel 91 and petrol, Gasoline direct injection fuel system and 18.5 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank.

Bmw 5 series gran turismo

Whenever a new type of car is launched, it's always interesting to see how the manufacturer in question tries to sell it to us - the public. Getting the message across isn't necessarily easy and when the car is the BMW 5 Series GT it's even harder. This is one car where it's far from obvious who it's aimed at.
BMW says it has identified three key buyers for this vehicle. First are those who like the idea and practicality of an SUV but who do not like the traditionally bulky styling. Then there are people who want the luxury of a 7 Series in a design that's more coupe in profile and finally those that just want to be different and stand out from the norm.
While it's called the 5 Series GT it's more a cross between the luxury BMW 7 Series saloon and the BMW X5. It's also bigger than it looks at five metres long, but the well-proportioned coupe profile helps to disguise the sheer size of it. The exterior styling divides opinion and it's certainly not what you'd describe as a traditionally attractive shape, but it does stand out from the rest of the BMW range, even if it does look awkward from certain angles.
t's when you get inside that the 5 Series GT really starts to make sense. It has an amazingly spacious cabin for four or five adults with acres of rear legroom and superbly comfortable seats. And then there's the clever twin-opening boot which can operate like a standard saloon boot, or open up larger like a hatchback. If you want to carry four adults - and a large amount of luggage - in supreme luxury, the 5 Series GT is a perfect choice.
And this is where it's really at home - long distance cruising. The ride is smooth and quiet, all the engines offer effortless performance and it's incredibly cossetting to travel in.
