this car was very fast...
several poles in the group C era
it looked stunning...
with those sexy martini stripes
but also fragile,
it didn't finish many races...

Porsche 936

.

acrylic on paper 5x8" sold

the 936 has in my mind,
always been an underestimated Porsche.
even though it won Le Mans 3 times.
sitting between the 917 and 956
it had a lot to live up to...
.
is over at F1 Fanatic
always my first read of the day
especially the comments are good fun!
i think the Bellof painting looks great
thanks Keith!

70's

DAY SIXTY-NINE

countdown to OZ F1

start Nurburgring 1975 oil on panel 20x36" sold

I could fill at least a month with images of the
70's my favourite period, being a teenager at the time, these cars really got me hooked.
the readily available Ford DFV was responsible for many new constructors joining the Grand Prix circus.
There was an enormous variety of car shapes, aerodynamics where getting better
but wind tunnels were not in common use yet,so all
the cars didn't look all the same.
boxy cars curvy cars, big bluff noses, needle noses airboxes, big fat slicks at the bag,but not that much new technologie until Renault re-introduced the turbo.
